A New Chapter

Well, the new season is quickly approaching and I’m so excited to take on my new role as team owner. Starting an Indy Lights team with my friend and former race engineer from Andretti Green Racing, Steve Newey, has been everything I had expected so far, just a lot more of it! The challenge of putting together all the ingredients to build a winning team has been amazing, and I feel really great about the group we have assembled. We received even more good news when our partners, Vision Racing, announced they would be fielding a Lights car for James Davison alongside our entry for Daniel Herrington. Having two drivers to push each other, and also share technical data from both cars, was essential to our plan to build a first class team. We are mid-way through our winter testing schedule and times have been encouraging, giving us all more optimism as we count down to our first race in St. Petersburgh, Fl on April 4-5.

Many friends and fans have asked what my move to team ownership means to my driving career, and my honest answer at this point is I don’t really know. I still have the fire to compete, but Bryan Herta Autosport needs my time and attention during this crucial start-up phase to ensure success. Maybe we’ll have to run a car for me at the 500, that could be fun….
